South Downs National Park England  

I had the opportunity and pleasure of staying in this beautiful part of England, experiencing true rural life in a landscape shaped by nature and history. South Downs National Park is known for its rolling hills, open fields, and quiet countryside, making it an ideal place for photography and exploration.

One of the most striking locations is Devil’s Dyke, a deep valley that cuts through the chalk hills. The area offers some of the best views in the region, stretching over the Weald and toward the coastline on a clear day. Whether in the soft morning light or at sunset, the landscape here is always changing, making it a fascinating subject for photography.

Nestled at the foot of the Dyke are the charming villages of Fulking and Poynings, both rich in history and character. Fulking, with its traditional cottages and historic Shepherd and Dog pub, is a perfect example of an English village untouched by time. Its natural spring and surrounding countryside make it a peaceful spot to explore. Just a short distance away, Poynings is home to the beautiful Holy Trinity Church, a landmark dating back to the 14th century. These villages, with their quiet lanes and rural charm, offer a glimpse into traditional Sussex life.

The photos in my portfolio capture the untamed beauty of the South Downs, from the vast open landscapes to the rugged contours of Devil’s Dyke, as well as the timeless character of its surrounding villages. Through these images, I aim to showcase the park’s natural scenery and the quiet simplicity of rural England.
